Thank you dear Amanda.
I cried a little after watching your video.
That’s good, I don’t do that often.
You really touched me and gave me strength.
I feel encouraged to continue to find my path of becoming whole again.
Hi Amanda,
I watched your youtube video and you have done a lovely job. You go, Girl! 🙂
My story resonates with yours somewhat.
I finished grad school at UT in Social Work 30 years ago. I was 26.
Thirty years later I am still a social worker with children and families. My first position out of grad school was at a non-profit agency and I served sexual abuse survivors and their families. I like that you mention in your video about forgetting. Most of my early trauma was pre verbal,
when I was living in the Netherlands, so it is especially challenging to write or talk about.
So I was a social worker by day and a heavy drinker by night. My sobriety date is 1/1/13.
I am learning more about the expressive arts and that definitely includes writing. I recently travelled to Colorado to become certified in the Journal to the Self method which is fantastic – specific journaling techniques for healing, growth, self-expression, etc.
That is wonderful that you are writing about the first 12 years of your life! Congratulations! You are inspiring me… I am also a writer and would like to write a memoir at some point.
Warmly,
Didi
Hi Amanda, what you shared in your video, as I suspected 😉 , touched on so many similar points in my story: the mask wearing, the NEED for relationships, the “choking on my own screams,” the point that the “pain to exist was unbearable,” the feeling that people were judging you just by looking at you. Thank you so much for sharing this… You will touch so many peoples’ lives in an amazing way. You certainly have touched mine. I look forward to talking with you more.

I loved watching your tape and hearing your story. I think if I had not found Codependents Anonymous and gotten some help with my over-functioning in relationships, I would have died of stress or something. I am still working on my recovery and have good days and bad, but I thank God for finding the path to recovery. Thanks for your story..you are a beautiful woman…
